Squeaky Wheel (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website getsqueakywheel.com and the Squeaky Wheel application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. What Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated automatically when you use the app.

Information you give us

• Account info — your name and email address when you sign up (including via Google OAuth).
• Launch signup email — if you join our early-access waitlist, we store your email to notify you at launch.
• Reminder content — the text you enter when creating reminders, including natural-language descriptions of what you want to nag about.
• Target contact details — names, email addresses, and phone numbers of the people (or yourself) you want Squeaky Wheel to remind.

Information collected automatically

• Usage analytics — basic, anonymous pageview data collected through Vercel Analytics (no cookies, no personal identifiers).
• Auth session data — a session token stored in a cookie to keep you logged in.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Deliver reminders — we use the contact details you provide to send emails, SMS messages, and phone calls on your behalf.
• Parse your input — we send the text of your reminder descriptions to Anthropic's Claude AI so we can understand what you want and build the right reminder sequence.
• Authenticate you — we use your email and Google OAuth credentials to verify your identity and manage your account.
• Send launch notifications — if you signed up for early access, we use your email to let you know when the app is live.
• Improve the product — anonymous analytics help us understand which pages are used and where people get stuck.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on trusted third-party providers to run Squeaky Wheel. Each processes only the data needed for its role.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase-managed PostgreSQL databases with encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication tokens are stored as secure, HTTP-only cookies.

We follow industry-standard practices to protect your information, including TLS encryption for all network traffic and restricted access to production systems. No security system is perfect, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your data and will notify affected users promptly if a breach occurs.

5. Cookies

We use minimal cookies:

• Authentication session cookie — keeps you logged in. This is a secure, HTTP-only cookie that expires when your session ends or after 30 days of inactivity.
• Vercel Analytics — does not use cookies. It collects anonymous pageview data using non-identifying hashed signals.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party marketing trackers.

6. Your Rights

You have control over your data. Here is what you can do:

• Access your data — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct your data — update or fix inaccurate information in your account settings or by contacting us.
• Delete your data — request deletion of your account and all associated data. We will remove your information within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it.
• Opt out of communications — unsubscribe from launch notifications at any time using the link in any email. Reminder-related messages are transactional and tied to active reminders you have created.
• Withdraw consent — you can stop using the service at any time and request deletion of your data.

7. Children's Privacy

Squeaky Wheel is not intended for anyone under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice in the app. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
